About us

The Bayou Liberty Association was incorporated in 1984 to serve as the steward of Bayou Liberty and further a sense of community among residents.  For multiple decades prior to its incorporation date, the organization existed as the “Bayou Area Association”.

The association is dedicated to fostering a highly desirable and safe quality of life for residents and visitors.  It does so by:

  • Initiating and organizing activities that sustain and enhance the neighborhood’s physical environment;

  • Engaging in special projects aimed at maintaining and enhancing the bayou’s natural beauty;

  • Organizing informational meetings and communications as a service to residents;

  • Collaborating with other neighborhood organizations on issues important to residents; and

  • Working with city and parish agencies and other civic entities to monitor and positively affect safety, zoning, and quality of life concerns.

For these and many more reasons, the Bayou Liberty Association is recognized and respected by St. Tammany Parish officials, regional municipalities, and local civic organizations as the “consensus voice” for the Bayou Liberty neighborhood.  We welcome interested citizens to join our effort in helping to serve as custodians of this beautiful and diverse area.

Oh the moonlight on the bayou
A creole tune that fills the air
I dream about Magnolias in bloom
And I’m wishin’ I was there
