MARCH 4 PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
OUT OF TOWN DEVELOPERS WANT TO RUIN YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE
On March 4th, the Parish Council will hear the appeal for two rezoning cases of 47.43 acres on Carroll Road near Devon Drive directly across from Iroquois Street. This planned subdivision lies in Councilman Jerry Binder’s District-12. CKB Development, LLC, from Breaux Bridge, seeks to build 89-homesites clustered on approximately 20-acres off Carroll Road. The developer is attempting to do this through two rezoning petitions: 2020-2057-ZC and 2020-2058-ZC.
This proposed Bayou Bend Subdivision will negatively impact our entire community by
· increasing traffic on the already congested and dangerous Carroll Road;
· increasing water runoff with its associated pollutants, resulting in greater and more frequent flooding to nearby streets and properties;
· placing excessive concrete and asphalt which permanently eliminates the native land’s natural absorption and filtering capacity;
· building an onsite Sewage Treatment Plant, which are historically marred with maintenance problems that lead to unending seepage and discharge issues; and
· setting a dangerous precedent which invites future adverse rezoning and development within an acknowledged sensitive region.
The only public notice for this project consisted of small, unreadable signs posted on the property and scant publications in a local newspaper with limited circulation. The signs were blown or kicked over shortly after being posted and now lie face down in the ditches. For these and other reasons, few local residents are aware of this development.
If you agree that this poorly designed and ill-conceived project must be stopped, make your voices heard now and insist that all of our councilpersons vote “NO” to these two rezoning petitions. Please contact
