ANNUAL BLA PICNIC AND MEMBERSHIP MEETING MAY 29 11 - 3
The 2021 Annual Spring Picnic is right around the corner.
Saturday, May 29
11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Kevin & Donna McDonald’s Family Home
35075 Oakridge Avenue
You may arrive by boat or automobile.
If by boat – we are the large grey dock approximately ¼ mile north of the Jefferson Boat Launch on the same side of the bayou – the east bank. You will see BLA signage and a festive appearance!
If by automobile – Oakridge is the third street north of Bayou Liberty Road on Carroll Road, there is a small school bus stop shed on Carroll Road. Turn west on to Oakridge and go approximately 1-1/4 miles towards the bayou. Proceed through the brick columns and onto the gravel private drive. Follow the signs for the turns and for parking. If the grounds remain wet, please use caution and stay on the roadway. Note – GPS easily gets you to Oakridge, simply keep driving. We are approximately 1-1/4 miles off Carroll Road.
Please bring a dish to share –
If you would like to add your dish to the list, please respond to this email. Closer to the event I will email the updated items. PLEASE BRING LABELED SERVING UTENSILS WITH YOUR LABELED DISH.
Please bring yard chairs, picnic blankets, etc. We will have some chairs and tables, but please bring your own: You may be more comfortable!
We have set ups (flatware, plates, napkins, etc).
Bring beverages for your party.
We will supply water and ice.
If your children enjoy fishing, please bring poles, life jackets, etc. We will have some bait.
We will coordinate children’s activities and yard games (yard games for the young and young-at-heart). Two sweet and responsible ladies who are early education majors at LSU will be overseeing the children’s activities for us. They are not babysitters but will hopefully entertain your child so you can enjoy the picnic.
This year’s picnic will include live music by Katarina Boudreaux’s Family Jam Band, featuring Andre’ Bouvier and BLA’s own Cap’n Tom Collins. A “Jam” Band suggests anyone may participate by singing or playing an instrument. Therefore, bring your instrument and plan on joining-in.
We will continue to follow CDC, state and local mask and social distancing guidelines.
The picnic is an excellent opportunity to meet members and resume friendships. It is also an excellent time to crosscheck your contact information and membership dues obligations with our records. If you EVER have a question about your due’s status, please reach out to me – you can use the BLA website or email bayoulibertyassociation@gmail.com
Our on-line portal is up-to-date, and is a fast, easy and convenient method to renew your membership and to invite others to join BLA. The website name is easy to remember –
www.bayoulibertyassociation.com
If you really want to make your life easier, consider the five-year membership for $100 (which provides a free year). In so doing, you will not have me sending you reminder letters to renew each year. In any case, I promise to continue forwarding Important messages about what’s happening on the Bayou!
This last year was difficult for everyone. We look forward to spending time with you and to celebrating our beautiful little piece of heaven on earth! Please join us on May 29.
