Bayou Paquet Watershed Projects
Apparently, some confusion exists regarding the proposed rezoning for three adjacent parcels along Highway 190. Factually, a trio of clustered subdivisions are planned, each of which requires one or more rezoning petitions. They are all located in Steve Stefancik’s District 11.
Rousseau Subdivision: Zoning Cases 2021-2438-ZC and 2021-2439-ZC
Requests rezoning from A-2 to A-4
Then A-4 with a Planned Unit Development Overly (PUD)
147 New Homesites
Goes before Planning and Zoning at 6:00 PM this evening - August 3, 2021
Located north of Hwy 190, east of Tranquility Road
Honeybee Subdivision: Zoning Cases 2021-2354-ZC and 2021-2355-ZC
Requests rezoning from Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND-2) to A-4
Then A-4 with a Planned Unit Development Overlay (PUD)
1002 New Homesites
Presented to Zoning Commission in June: Postponed until September 7, 2021
Located north of Hwy 190, east and West sides of Honeybee Road
Unnamed Subdivision: Not presented to Planning and Zoning; therefore yet to receive a Zoning Commission Number (ZC)
Requests rezoning from Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND-2) to A-4A
200 New Homesites
Located south of Hwy 190, east of Henry Mayfield Elementary School
All three are large, overly dense developments that will significantly expand traffic and increase water runoff/pollutants into Bayou Paquet; ultimately dumping everything into Lake Pontchartrain. If the rezoning plans succeed and the projects proceed as planned, they will adversely impact the quality of life to our entire community along the Bayou Paquet Watershed.
We understand this may be bewildering, if not also daunting. Nevertheless, these three developments merely reflect those that we know about today. Others may be in the queue. Keep informed through the bayoulibertyassociation.com
